The National Sculpture Factory in association with Cork Artists Collective have commissioned Japanese artist Kenji Endo to install his site-specific sculpture Replicant along the side of the red-brick NSF building where Albert Road meets the South Link. Replicant is made from aluminium duct piping and LED lights and will sprawl, virus-like along the western face and front of the factory building, emitting a low lit, blue glow.

The 10th Annual TG4 Gradam Ceoil (Traditional Irish Music Awards) will take place in the magnificent setting of The Cork Opera House, Cork City. Receiving a Gradam Ceoil is one of the highest honours that can be bestowed on a traditional musician and this year's awards will be presented at a televised Gala Awards Ceremony and Concert where the winners will be joined by a host of special guests. These include Liam O Flynn, Sean Keane, Paddy Glackin, Arty McGlynn and Rod McVey, Paul Brady, Danu, The West Ocean String Quartet, Jim McGrath & Pat McManus, Paddy Cronin, Jackie Daly and Donal O Connor, Dara Ban Mac Donnchadha, Fiachna O Mongain and family and Kevin Corbett.

Seamus Murphy Centenary Season

To mark the centenary of the birth of renowned sculptor Seamus Murphy, a series of celebratory events will take place in Cork from April to September this year. The Seamus Murphy Centenary Season will include various exhibitions of his work as well as photographs and tools in venues such as the Crawford Art Gallery, Cork City Libraries and the Cork Public Museum.

The aim of this nonprofit weekend will be to promote traditional music in the village and the surrounding area. The weekend will feature workshops from master teachers in button accordion, flute, bodhrán, and fiddle. Instrument teachers include Jackie Daly (former member of De Dannan and TG4 Musician of the year 2005), Colm Murphy (former member of De Dannan), Garry Walsh (critically acclaimed flute player who specializes in playing tunes lost through emigration), and Seamus Creagh (legendary fiddle player).
